In this video, Le Grand JD travels up one of Europe's greatest rivers to its source, the Rhône glacier, to see how it is melting. In 2024, this glacier lost 0.5m in height over its entire surface. As has been the case for some years now, glaciers are melting faster and faster. This year again, Swiss glaciers lost 2.5% of their mass. Le Grand JD meets glaciologist Saskia Gindraux, who explains the issues surrounding the loss of our glaciers.
