#Living with 4 degrees more: What's it like? #Poisson Fécond

Poisson Fécond takes you on a journey through time! His fictitious guinea pig, Gustave, is teleported into a hypothetical future where global warming reaches 4 degrees Celsius in France. But what exactly is global warming? Why 4 degrees? What are the consequences of climate change? Temperatures, extreme events, major upheavals in everyday life and in society... As the seasons go by, we'll find out together what's in store for us in the not-too-distant future. That is, if we do nothing to prevent this future from happening! Because, yes, we don't talk about it enough, but it's still entirely possible to have a pleasant future, far from the nightmarish and anxiety-provoking vision often portrayed. The good news and solutions are at the end of the video!

Summary of the video study

Climate change has various and complex effects on crop pests worldwide. In this review, we detail the role of the main climatic parameters related to temperature and precipitation changes that might have direct or indirect impacts on pest species. Changes in these parameters are likely to favour or to limit pest species, depending on their ecological context. On a global scale, crop pests are expected to benefit from current and future climate change. However, substantial differences appear across biomes and species. Temperate regions are generally more likely to face an increase in pest attacks compared with tropical regions. Therefore, climate change effects should be studied in the context of local climate and local ecological interactions across biomes.

Poisson Fécond takes you on a world tour with this video. But not just any world tour! Think of beautiful landscapes, verdant plains, or rivers of crystal-clear water. Got it? Now imagine the exact opposite of what’s in your head. We’re going to visit the most polluted places on our beloved planet and begin to grasp how that pollution contributes to climate change. In fact, pollution that may seem far away has greater impact on our daily lives, especially our health, than you might imagine!

Summary of the video study

Lakes are vital ecosystems for a huge number of freshwater aquatic species. They also are a precious human resource: source of potable water, food, etc. However recent studies have offered disturbing proof of their degradation, both in terms of water quality and biodiversity. This paper, written by more than 42 researchers, provides a framework to evaluate the dangers that currently threaten the ecosystems of world’s largest lakes and to assess pathways for sustainable development offering greater respect for continued viability of the services they provide.
