Poisson Fécond takes you on a world tour with this video. But not just any world tour! Think of beautiful landscapes, verdant plains, or rivers of crystal-clear water. Got it? Now imagine the exact opposite of what’s in your head. We’re going to visit the most polluted places on our beloved planet and begin to grasp how that pollution contributes to climate change. In fact, pollution that may seem far away has greater impact on our daily lives, especially our health, than you might imagine!
Lakes are vital ecosystems for a huge number of freshwater aquatic species. They also are a precious human resource: source of potable water, food, etc. However recent studies have offered disturbing proof of their degradation, both in terms of water quality and biodiversity. This paper, written by more than 42 researchers, provides a framework to evaluate the dangers that currently threaten the ecosystems of world’s largest lakes and to assess pathways for sustainable development offering greater respect for continued viability of the services they provide.
